Georgie painted a beautiful picture of a snapper with a paua shell that I gave my Kiwi husband for our first weddding anniversary. He loved it, and it has been put in pride of place on the wall in our new kitchen to remind him of what I am regularly told is the the superior snapper fishing in New Zealand.

Thankyou so much for painting it Georgie. It was a great present for a homesick kiwi.

We then asked Georgie if she would paint a portrait of our wee grandson, and after sending her a few photos this is the finished painting. Bron and I are so rapt with this portrait, the end result is just amazing. Georgie you are one very talented lady, keep up the good work.

I later purchased a painting called 'Everyone's Best Friend'. The dog in this painting is so much like my old Sam (cross lab German shepherd) this painting actually bought a tear to my eyes.

Hi Georgie,
Well as expected, the painting was an absolute hit. He said it was the most amazing present he has ever received and couldn't believe how accurate it was to his dogs.

I wanted to tell you how delighted I am with your wonderful painting of my favorite two girls. Meg was just about an hour old when the photo was taken, and you have captured that special time in a very meaningful way, thank you.

Georgie painted a picture of our two young daughters (our 3 year old with her 3 week old baby sister) directly from a photo. The end result is just magic and so true to life. She has captured their features (especially the eyes!) just perfectly right down to the cheeky little grin of the older child. This picture is hanging in our lounge and draws comments from all visitors to our home - the most common being the "wow" when they realise that its not a photograph but a painting. Just stunning!

We're wishing we never bought our original Georgie MacBrayne. All our visitors goo and gaa; just when you think they're listening to the conversation you realise they're looking at kingfish.

I think how much you like a painting is shown perhaps by how it is displayed. My ‘Morepork’ is in a place where you can't help but look at it as you enter our living room.
I first met Georgie and her paintings at the Mt Maunganui Display. Her paintings are exceptional, they have a special lifelike touch which sets them apart.
We agreed at our first meeting that Georgie should paint me a Ruru. I have been collecting owls now for 40 years and with so many they need something special to be added to my collection. I was not disappointed and the painting shows that special effect that is part of these secretive birds. They are nocturnal and I think though this is perhaps a departure in painting from the norm for Georgie she has produced something that to me is very lifelike and special.

I am the proud owner of 2 paintings by Georgie MacBrayne. At different times of day they are so realistic that they could be mistaken for a window or a photo. I don’t own a lot of art but I appreciate true talent and feeling that has been put into a painting. Georgie has a unique view when painting and I look forward to hanging more of these amazing paintings in my home in the future.”

How's this for a really cool wedding gift from my wife, painted by Georgie? My wife supplied a picture of the marlin on the gantry and Georgie created this masterpiece from it. I reckon it's fantastic.

Georgie,
Thankyou for the obvious care and attention to detail that you have taken in painting the portrait of our Rosie. As you know, this was a surprise birthday present for my wife and she was absolutely delighted, not only with the thought of the present, but also with the quality of your work in producing a very lifelike image of our beautiful pet.
Rosie is a SPCA rescue dog which we have now had for almost 10 years, but even after all this time she is still unsettled by noise and flashlights, which make taking her photo a little difficult. You have also managed to bring her personality to light in your painting, something we had struggled to achieve in most photos.
We will recommend your work wherever appropriate.

Believe me when I say that the pictures of Georgie's work do not do justice to them - they are just amazing in real life. I am speaking from experience here as I purchased one of Georgie's works months ago. It is sitting proudly on the wall above my 'puter. How good is the painting? Georgie is soooooo bloody good....it's insane!
Thanks again, (signed) Luke, Australia..................2006

"Twenty-five Years Anniversary" portrait.
Didn't think it was possible but it looks even better in person! Fantastic job Georgie, we consider ourselves lucky to have found someone so professional who could help. They absolutely loved it.
Apparently they were both in tears so job well done! Thanks so much.

Georgie,
I can't tell you in words how much pleasure I get from your painting of the Marlin I caught in Vanuatu. Each time I glance at the painting it brings to mind the entire sequence of jumps and aerial displays that was so much a feature of this capture and to be able to see it again every day is a special treat especially as we tagged and released that magnificent fish to swim away.
Best wishes, (signed) Graham McKenzie, Auckland...........October '06

This is a framed painting of Riverman's Homestead, shown with Christmas greeting card made from print of same.
"For Christmas 2006, while we were living in the UK, we decided to get a special present for a friend of ours, who happened to live in one of NZ's oldest houses in Northland. Having supplied Georgie with a photo of the
house, and separate photos of our friend's two dogs, Georgie created a
fabulous painting, showing the house and gardens and incorporating in his
two best friends. Dealing only over the phone/internet with Georgie, we
were very pleased with both the painting and the extra care she took when
sending the painting direct to our friend. Georgie even sent us a large
postcard with a copy of the painting to us in the UK. We would definitely
commission work from Georgie again."

"Riverman's Homestead" was built from Kauri milled off the property and first occupied in 1836 by William Spikeman - a former convict. He was an assistant to the Rev.Samuel Marsden, in setting up the Mission Stations at Kerikeri and Waimate North before obtaining his freedom as a "Ticket of Leave Man" and acquiring one of the earliest Land Grants in the North, milling Kauri to supply timber for the earliest private and commercial building in Auckland. The Kaeo River was used to load ships in Whangaroa Harbour in the days before any roading existed, earning him the identity as "The Riverman".
Georgie was commissioned to do this painting, as a gift for the present owner, and it typifies her attention to detail in identifying some of the earliest Colonial architecture in New Zealand still in existence and still occupied.
Thanks Georgie for undertaking this painting of a treasured piece of New Zealand's early Colonial history.
